Maureen O´Brien, Theatre Alum, was just promoted to Project Specialist at Foremost Insurance in Caledonia, Michigan. Foremost Insurance is a member of the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Foremost offers home, life, specialty, commercial and auto insurance.

O´Brien previously worked at Foremost as a senior sales associate, quoting, selling and servicing specialty insurance policies. The team she worked with regularly earned incentives to boost cross sells, memberships, referrals and outbound sales. O´Brien was also recently inducted into the Million Dollar Club for earning $1,000,000 in premium. O´Brien says that her background in theatre has been very applicable to her current job.

“This position ties closely with the stage managing skills I learned at GVSU, ¨ said O´Brien. ¨Being able to be creative as well as organized and on top of things is a hard balance, but one that is useful in my life and career. Knowing how to communicate effectively through speaking, as well as writing is important. Being able to manage a show with multiple departments and a large cast can translate into so many aspects professionally, and it has for me!”

O´Brien is also a Board Member for The University Wits, a local nonprofit theatre company in downtown Grand Rapids. She works as a stage manager, properties designer and an actor. This summer O´Brien starred as ¨Corrie¨ in the romantic comedy by Neil Simon, Barefoot in the Park.
