GrandPR, the student-run public relations agency of Grand Valley State University, announced the organization dedicated more than 2,050 hours during the last eight months providing public relations assistance to local business and organizations, including ArtPrize, Boardwalk Subs, the Crohn’s and Coltis Foundation of American, and the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan, among others.
GrandPR is comprised of 19 students studying public relations and other various communication majors at GVSU. While being a staff member of GrandPR requires as much time as a “real” job, staff members volunteer and dedicate their time to gaining real-world experience providing public relations services such as media relations, social media, and event coordination.
“ArtPrize worked with GrandPR to be my arms and legs during some of the busiest moments leading up to the 2011 event,” said Brian Burch, public relations director at ArtPrize. “They provided me with a dedicated account team who I would recommend to any future employer.”
While there are more than 100 student-run public relations firms nationwide, GrandPR has received national affiliation from the Public Relations Society of America, naming the agency as one of the top 32 agencies in the country.
